After briefly recalling the biophysical limitations to the way humans occupy the planet, and defining economical growth and global degrowth, I will address three questions. First, what lessons can we draw from physics, chemistry and biology regarding long term constraints ? Second, within this frame, what are the possible options and on what can we act ? Third, what are the links between these questions and scientific research ? The conclusion will be short and open, to leave time for questions and debate.
