Experimental plots (TE)

This versatile technical platform combines open-field experimental plots (4 Ha) and experimentation in controlled conditions (climate-controlled greenhouses covering 450 m²). It provides the infrastructure, equipment and skills needed for in situ experiments in natural or controlled conditions for various biological models (plants, animals, fungi). The facility provides instrumentation and is used to develop experimental protocols, and design prototypes tailored to the specific needs of experimenters. It also conserves biological resources and biodiversity through the maintenance of collections, notably plant.

The TE is part of the Montpellier Experimental Greenhouses Network (Réseau des Serres Expérimentales de Montpellier) whose founding members are: Cirad, CNRS, Inra, IRD, Montpellier SupAgro and UM. Website

Services

This versatile technical platform provides the infrastructure, equipment and skills needed for in situ experiments in natural or controlled conditions in the plant and animal domains. The facility provides instrumentation and is used to develop experimental protocols, and design prototypes tailored to the specific needs of experimenters. It also conserves biological resources and biodiversity through the maintenance of collections, notably plant.

Field experiments can be carried out in a 3 Ha plot, or controlled environments (air-conditioned greenhouses, ovens, room cultures, etc.). Ecological experiments can be carried out on topics as diverse as climate change, experimental evolution or the ecology of communities. The labs’ experience in the field means that it can support experimental studies carried out by several laboratories at Montpellier (LabEx and others). The TE is a genuine platform for experimentation on living organisms (plants and animals).
